Being curious as to why I had a good deal of telepathic ability but virtually void of any empathy, I joined this tribe several years ago to hopefully find out why. I did receive many helpful suggestions on how to develop empathy then I moved on. I did recall ongoing pleas for help by members here for suggestions on how to shield and isolate themselves from the emotions of others -like seeking an "off" switch. Again, there were always many helpful suggestions by members about the effective methods they used for themselves. Seems like an ongoing topic.
I recently became aware of precisely what blocks my empathy and felt a need to re-join and share that information. I think we all know about the ritual Native Americans use after settling their differences -smoking the peace pipe. But the practical reason for this is not widely known.
To shield themselves from any residual hostility the other might have, they smoked tobacco. NICOTINE BLOCKS EMPATHY
Being a heavy smoker for over 45 years - now I understand my situation. I would never suggest taking up smoking (disgusting habit I love) but there are other sources ( gum, patch) that might be worth a try.

I apologize regarding length of this letter.
Interesting observation and a nice post.
Actually, few have any inkling why they are psychic, empathic and/or telepathic which are primitive 'stages' of awakening into the OneSelf, and they go through life guessing and giving advice about how to do one thing or another as derived from their on going and developing knowledgebase, which certainly is beautifully Human and Loving.
>To shield themselves from any residual hostility the other might have, they smoked tobacco.
>NICOTINE BLOCKS EMPATHY
Niccotine displaces Nous which is the Life Power of the elemental Air-Spirit or 'breath' and decouples one's connection through dissonance with the OneSource of Life in the Cosmos..a bad practice.
As you point out, 'smoke' has been employed, though typically not tobacco, through the ages in ritual Majik operations, and not to block empathy. Empathy is a primitive preliminary state of awakening and should not be fiddled with. It is an unadvoidable necessary state of consciousness development. To become fully conscious one must clear one's Kharmic / MZLA (encrustrustations of the Samskaric mirror) through Life experiences. A safe functional path of Ascenscion is through the development of the Sun Center or Love. Empathy is exceptional for re-experiencing one's own digressions through Kharmic realization. What we put out is what we get back. Work to clear your Kharmic conditions and your resonance of your empathy will begin to shift from the unpleasant red 'end' of Spiritual resonance into the violet bliss filled 'end' of the spectrum of God's Mind.
'Smudging', is a practice of using smoldering sage bundles, or the use of inscence to clear negative elementals and thought-atmospheres from an area. The smoke molecules disparately permeate the lower heavens of the two bottom most physical and quasi-physical 'dimensions' of the four worlds of God's Mind, and are known to deresonate lower elemental manifestation in the immediate locality of usage. One sees these practce where advanced Spiritual activity is conducted, such as in Budhistic temples, Golden Dawn, BOTA, Rosicrucian, Masonic and Qabalah temples. It is for protection and general vibratory tuning.
However as one becomes more aware of the OTHERS of ourSelf, all of us, so does one's realization that we are not at the top of the food chain. We become increasingly aware that we are being opportunistically used by other things and beings in the lower heavens, and in our learning curve progression, we begin to seek ways to lessen the Spiritual / emotional pain learning how to defend ourselves from Spiritual usage (Vital Life Force vampirism) and accidental attraction of negative manifestation and other insideous but generally unsensed attacks. I recommend Dionne Fortune's excellent book, "Psychic Self Defence". Everyone in this community should have this book on their shelves.
Empathically yours,
Love - tron

Re: Empathy blocker
Sat, May 17, 2008 - 1:54 PMI smoke cigarettes and it does not block my empathy. I tend to smoke more when I feel empathic energy from others in a desperate attempt to squash it or out of anxiety of the feelings I am recieving, but it does not help fend of these energies in the slightest. An interesting observation is that I do tend to eat a bit of cheese when it's really bad to ground myself, needless to say, I am not a slim person at the moment:)

Sun, May 18, 2008 - 3:25 AMDrugs DO make you normal! (lol)
A psycic friend of mine explained that any useage dampens ability.
This may explain the why so many do.
I stay away from it myself, but I do have to suffer for it by being hyper-senisitive!
All I can do is meditate and breathe through my hardest moments.

Re: Empathy blocker
Yesterday, 6:53 AMI quit smoking 5 years ago and I have to say while it didn't silence things it did seem to dampen a little. I didn't see the difference right after quitting either it took several months before it was noticeable that something had changed. Maybe because I smoked for over 10 years. Thanks for the post because while I had realized that there had been a change I had never put 2 and 2 together before.
