Empaths and numerology – what is the likelihood of a common number?

A book I read uses numerology (birth date) to present information such as tendencies, issues, and potentials of an individual. One of which I discovered for myself as being acutely sensitive to other people's emotions, as if they were my own. It was explained that a 3 on its own is to do with emotional sensitivity, but acute when the pair of numbers before adding for the final, are threes (33) My friend is also Empathic, and has the same 33 number. So I am really curious to find out just what may be the percentage, or likelihood of people being a 33 in numerology. If the book interests you, I wrote a review in the Reviews sections in this Tribe. Empathy is not a term used in the book, and is also a relatively new term for me.

Would you like to help ascertain if there is a common thread here with birth numerology numbers, by indicating what your two digit number is?

Please don’t put your birth date here, as I don’t think it is safe to put such information in a public place.

The way to arrive at the two digit number (and the final, which makes up 3 digits in total), is to write down your full date of birth, for example, say one was born 10 December 1970
Write down; 10 12 1970
Now add up all single digits. There are 8 digits in this example. Essentially, anything greater than 9 is treated as 2 digits. (eg 10th = 1 + 0, 11th = 1 +1)
1+0 + 1+2 + 1+9+7+0 = 2 1
21 is then added again to arrive at 3, but is expressed as 2 1 , 3

Thanks

Paul

    if I added correclty, mine date of birth numerology number is 31= 4

    waht does that mean?
    • The Life Path 4 suggests that you entered this plane with a natural genius for planning, fixing, building, and somehow, with practical application and cerebral excellence, making things work. You are one of the most trustworthy, practical, and down-to-earth of individuals; the cornerstone members of society. Indeed, as a Life Path 4, you are a builder of society. The cream of the crop in this Life Path can be a master builder in society. if you are among these highly talented people, you have an idealistic nature which is grounded in practical terms, allowing you to conceive grandiose, far-reaching schemes and carry them through to the end. If you desire and are willing to work for it, you can achieve enormous success, prestige, and fame. Obviously, everyone with a 4 Life Path does not become famous.

      All with this Life Path have the ability to take orders and to carry them out with dedication and perseverance and many 4s live and work happily in this context. But so often, the 4 Life Path is the entrepreneur and manager in the community. In either role, you always demand as much from yourself as you do from others, and sometimes a lot more.

      You have the kind of will power that is often mistaken for sheer stubbornness. You don't think of yourself as dogged, but your honest beliefs and that ever direct speech makes you come across as completely unremitting. Once a decision is made, it will be followed through to the conclusion, right, wrong, or indifferent. You are very set in your ways and determined to handle things the way you are so certain that they should be handled. Your tenacity of purpose and ability to get the job done borders on obsession. You are a wonderful manager with a great sense of how to get the job done.

      You are an excellent organizer and planner because of your innate ability to view things in a very common sense and practical way. This stems from a strong desire to be a perfectionist in your labor. Planning is necessary to avoid errors. It's very likely that a 4 Life Path person invented the to-do list, because it is the rare Life Path 4 who doesn't have one by her side at all times. Your life is programed in an orderly fashion permitting you to catalog and manage the flow of ideas and activities that fill your day. Indeed, you seem to function best when you are under the gun and facing a tough set of problems.

      Loyal and devoted, you make the best of your marriage, and you are always the good provider. Friends may be few in number, but you are very close to them and once friendships are made, they often last a lifetime.

      The number 4 is solidly associated with the element of earth from which it gains its strength and utter sense of reality. You are one of the most dependable people you know. If patience and determination can ever win, you are sure to achieve great success in life. Often, you are called on to take care of others; to finish what they have started. It may not seem fair and probably isn't, but it may be the key to your accomplishment and reputation.

      The negative side of the 4 can prove dogmatic to an excess, narrow-minded, and repressive. A lot of skin-deep people turn you off, and you lack the tact to keep your feelings from being totally clear to all around. Additionally, the negative 4 has a bad tendency to get caught up in the daily routine of affairs, missing the big picture and major opportunities that come along once in a while.

        Thank you that was very kind of you to find and post for me. I see how most empaths so far have posted 33 and 5...I do feel the odd man out.

        IT only fits me somewhat-due to dsylexia I think mostly. Anyways dyslexics are supposed to have empathic tendencies..I forgot why..

        I do have the doggedness and direct/blunt speech which frequently pisses people off and many unhidden emotions, but I am dyslexic and totally disorganized and cannot actaully tell time or make great use of clocks-have had no real career. Fixing/building /planning-yes I am tehcnically/mechanically apt--handy, but with the ironic twist of not having good fine motor skills and audio-dysgrpahic[auio-language processing porblems] , I can pass an essay test but cannot take legible notes. I excel at 3-d thinking/visualization, can do well in ceramics, but have to struggle to try to draw anything on the 2d plane. Strong conceptual thinking barriers and frequent misreading and miscommunicaiotn with people. I am good at reading everything-and then thinking and figureong out the big picture, but often times I read many things and comprehend very little.things [abilities/disabilities] come and go for the dyslexic..
        ...but stability/grouned life I have not had..YET.....

        Thank you again!! You are very kind! Happy Holidays to you!
  • Thank you for taking the time to respond. I would like to provide a summary to this point in time on the dates given here. I include myself in the data.
    So far we have; 33/6, 33/6, 33/6, 36/9, 11/2, 11/2, 18/9, 33/6, 27/9, 27/9, 33/6, 30, 45/9, 33/6, 29/11, 11/2, 28/10 (the 10, being a one and a zero), 21/3, 32/5, 31/4, 12/3, 27/9, 27/9, 36/9, 27/9, 29/11, 34/7

    27 people total
    6 people @ 33/ 6 number that equals 22 percent of people
    5 people @ 27/9 = 18.5 percent
    3 people @ 11/2
    2 people @ 36/9
    13 people had the three appear at least once in their number. That is quite close to half of the people. When I mentioned double double threes , or 33/6, i was not being exclusive. According to the book, a single three still has an influence, as does the general quality of every other number. The book may differ slightly to common numerology. The relationship of the position of the numbers have an order of priority in influence, and difficulty. The number on the left, is suppose to be the easier energy to handle/ master/ potentialize, and as one progresses to the right, it becomes a greater influence, but harder to potentialize. To recap, the number 3 relates to emotional sensitivity and emotional expression. As i understand it, these are all generalities, and LOL, i would also like to point out that we not fall into trap of labels and definitions of ourselves. Just because we do not have a number, it does not mean we do not have the potential ability.
  • seeing as how there are a few people with the three, i will write some more things about the number three from the perspective of the book i mentioned. Keep in mind that the right most digit has the most influence. There were three people with the 3 as their "life purpose". (includes 30 , or three zero) For the rest of us with a three elsewhere, it still has an influence, but is not as major, except a powerful influence for double threes (33/6). The double digit has significant strengths and added challenges.

    33 has a powerful drive for expression, and it is important that there is a communication with oneself, and getting int touch with and accept the real inner feelings, rather than the ideal, and ones expectations.
    The negatives in the 6 (six being the addition of 3 + 3 in 33); = Excessively critical of self and others. Perfectionist. Lost in petty details
    The positive in the 6 = Seeing the bigger picture & priorities. Forgiving. Being patient. Excellent work without being a perfectionist. Accepts self and other people. Reconciling high ideals while being practical with reality.

    In the positive aspects of 3; Heartfelt expression. Constructive/ positive and uplifting emotional expression. Communication is done out of inspiration, joy and sensitivity.
    In the negative aspects of 3; depression and disappointment. Too sensitive. Complaints and criticism. Expression that "tears down". Self doubt. Fear of expression.

    I do hope that the rest of the people here can appreciate that it would be a bit much for me to start looking up everyone else's numbers. I did start to write a little about 27/9 as well, but realized it is quite a lot more work than writing about the familiar 3's and 33/6. ie 33/6 being my own number. I can suggest either looking up numerology on the internet if you like, or to get a hold of Dan Millman's book. It might even be accessible from a local library.

  • Actually, the correct way to calculate the numbers is to look at your Compound Key number and Single Key Number

    For a birth day such as

    Aug (8th month) 12th 1980 first you total each set of numbers:
    8 3 9 = 20

    Hence 20 is the Compound Key number; specifically this is the birth number which can't be changed. And 2 is the single key birth number.

    Additionally, the specific day of your birth also has certain influence, for example here 12 is a 3, so 3 adds a smaller influence.

    Using the Hebrew Kabbalah alphabet, letters can also be translated into numbers.

    a =1
    b =2
    c = 3
    d = 4
    e = 5
    f = 8
    g = 3
    h = 5
    i = 1
    j = 1
    k = 2
    l = 3
    m = 4
    n = 5
    o = 7
    p = 8
    q = 1
    r = 2
    s = 3
    t = 4
    u = 6
    v = 6
    w = 6
    w = 6
    x = 5
    y = 1
    z = 7

    Some sample calculations

    A B R A H A M L I N C O L N
    1 2 2 1 5 1 4 3 1 5 3 7 3 5
    16 = 7 27 = 9
    7 + 9 = 7
    Compound Key Number of name is 16
    Single Key Number of name is 7

    There are specific definitions for number. First there are the Single Key number which are 1 through 9, though 0 also has a special vibration. Then the Compound Key definitions, each number from 10 through 60 has very specific definition.

    I've personally studied the Roman Numerology, Indian Numerology, and the Hebrew Kabbala system. The Indian and Kabbalah systems are almost the same and I've seen far more accuracy in it. The Roman system seems to be off about 90%+ percent of the time. I preformed tests on each system by taking numbers from company names like Intel, ATT, IBM, various spiritual figures like Jesus Christ, Jesus of Nazareth and began seeing what kinds of definitions come with each. The Roman system without any doubt of my own is off most of the time.

    One of the really good books I've found on the Hebrew Kabbalah Numerology system is in the book "Linda Goodman's Star Signs" ISBN 0-312-19203-7.

    Each of the 0 through 9 numbers also correlates with specific planets and astrology signs. For example 0 with scorpio, 1 with leo, 2 is cancer, 3 Sagittarius, 4 aquarius, 5 gemini and virgo, 6 aquarius taurus and libra, 7 pisces, 8 capricorn, 9 airies.

    The compound key numbers correlate with images which have been given names. Imagine a system similar to the Tarot deck, these systems come from the Ancient Chaldeans, a society that was stemmed from the Summerians which later separated into Babylonians, Assyrians, and Akkadians (Chaldeans) which developed the Qabbalah system (original way to pronounce) which later somehow made it into Hebrew Mysticism and the pronunciation changed to Kabbalah.

    Some of those definitions:

    p.s. some of the numbers are clearly bad karmic numbers, some are very focused in certain ways, some are highly rewarding. Certain combination of numbers have specific effects like the 4 & 8 combos have very heavy karma.

    10 The Wheel of Fortune
    11 A Lion Muzzled - A Clenched Fist
    12 The Sacrifice -- The Victim
    13 Regeneration -- Change
    14 Movement ... Challenge
    15 The Magician
    16 The Shattered Citadel
    17 The Star of the Magi
    18 Spiritual-Material Conflict
    19 The Prince of Heaven
    20 The Awakening
    21 The Crown of the Magi
    22 Submission -- and Caution
    23 The Royal Star of the Lion
    24 Love -- Money -- Creativity
    25 Discrimination and Analysis
    26 Partnerships
    27 The Sceptre
    28 The Trusting Lamb
    29 Grace Under Pressure
    30 The Loner -- Meditation
    31 The Recluse -- the Hermit
    32 Communications
    33 This number has no individual meaning of its own, but carries the same vibration as the 24 -- except there are some specific enhancements... it's defined more fully in this book.
    34 same as 25
    35 same as 26
    36 same as 27
    37 has a specific definition but no title is given for it
    38 = 11 and 29
    etc..
    43 has a specific definition but no title
    44 = 26
    etc..
    51 has specific definition but no title
    etc..

    Also, when the compound key number of the name is higher than the number 52 -- and will not be added to equal a new Compound Key number (such as 52 = 7, 53 = 8, 54 = 9, and 60 = 6) it indicates a person who has paid most of his or her karmic debts, and has less Karma to balance out than the average person.

    This books goes pretty in depth about this whole topic.

  • Thanks for your info. guys.

    Well, I calculated a few different ways and always got 10/1. I looked that up on the internet and got many different meanings *sigh* If Wheel of Fortune is supposed to represent 10 then I think for me it must be spiritual wheel of fortune, lol. Although, from what I was born into and where I am now is a huge jump (from abject poverty to being able to afford organic). Any other 1's out there?

    • Michelle,

      I'll type up for you what it says for the Wheel of Fortune [ 10 ]

      (this is from the Linda Goodman's Star Signs book on page 196)

      10 is symbolized by Isis and Osiris. A number of rise and fall, according to personal desire. The name will be known for good or evil, depending on the action chosen. 10 is capable of arousing the extreme responses of love or hate - respect or fear. There is no middle ground between honor or dishonor. Every event is self-determined. 10 is the symbol of L[O]ve and L[I]ght, which create all that can be imagined, and also contains the code: [I]mage 10 [O]rdain. [I]mage it, and it shall be. [O]rdain it, and it will materialize. The power for manifesting creative concepts into reality is inherent, but must be used with wisdom, since the power for absolute creation contains the polarity power for absolute destruction. Self-discipline and infinite compassion must accompany the gift of the former to avoid the tragedy of the latter. <i>Discipline must precede Dominion.</i> Unfortunately, some 10 people fail to realize their power potential, and consequently harbor deep-seated feelings of frustration, causing them to feel unfulfilled, and to occasionally behave in a somewhat proud and arrogant manner to cover such unnecessary feelings of inferiority.
      • Hey, thanks so much OnlyNow,
        This sounds a lot like a Message for "Michael" reading I had many moons ago. I can see the black and white thing - thought it was just related to being Scorpio, lol well and having a 1 wing in Enneagram. Hey the 1 thing again! Ya, I can't go very far off what I know to be aligned (with myself) or else I get instant pain. If I am slightly out of integrity or disrespectful or not in compassion when I speak I feel it immediately. I do respect the gray areas and ranges for other people just not so much for myself. :-0)
  • Wow, this thread really too off. Really something, things have been a bit quiet here lately.

    I did some research on Numerology decades ago, but have lost most of what I learned and figured out way back then.

    I ran my birth date the way you said to do,, came to 30, which is 3. I ran my date the same way I learned decades ago, totaling each number then adding them together, and one comes up with 4, 4, 4, which is 12, which is then 3.

    I ran my wifes and daughters dates and my wife was a 8 and my daughter a 1. They are both somewhat sensitive and fairly empathic, but not anything to the degree that I am, at least presently. And I have a older 30 year old son, from another marriage and he is a 4. He is sensitive and empathic ,but again, not anything like me.

    I ran this auto program on a Numerology site ,and this is what it came up with, it fits me nearly 100%

    You entered: David Louis Johnson
    There are 17 letters in your name.
    Those 17 letters total to 76
    There are 7 vowels and 10 consonants in your name.

    What your first name means:Welsh Male Beloved or friend, from the Hebrew. Sixth century St David (or Dewi) was patron saint of Wales.
    Swedish Male Beloved.
    Scottish Male Beloved or friend, adopted from the Hebrew. David was a common name of Scottish kings in the Middle Ages.
    Hebrew Male Beloved or friend. The Old Testament David killed the giant Goliath in 10th Century BC, then succeeded Saul as King of Israel.
    Biblical Male 'Well-beloved, dear'

    Your number is: 4

    The characteristics of #4 are: A foundation, order, service, struggle against limits, steady growth.

    The expression or destiny for #4:
    Order, service, and management are the cornerstones of the number 4 Expression. Your destiny is to express wonderful organization skills with your ever practical, down-to-earth approach. You are the kind of person who is always willing to work those long, hard hours to push a project through to completion. A patience with detail allows you to become expert in fields such as building, engineering, and all forms of craftsmanship. Your abilities to write and teach may lean toward the more technical and detailed. In the arts, music will likely be your choice. Artistic talents may also appear in such fields as horticulture and floral arrangement, as well. Many skilled physicians and especially surgeons have the 4 Expression.

    The positive attitudes of the 4 Expression yield responsibility; you are one who no doubt, fulfills obligations, and is highly systematic and orderly. You are serious and sincere, honest and faithful. It is your role to help and you are required to do a good job at everything you undertake.

    If there is too much 4 energies present in your makeup, you may express some of the negative attitudes of the number 4. The obligations that you face may tend to create frustration and feelings of limitation or restriction. You may sometimes find yourself nursing negative attitudes in this regard and these can keep you in a rather low mood. Avoid becoming too rigid, stubborn, dogmatic, and fixed in your opinions. You may have a tendency to develop and hold very strong likes and dislikes, and some of these may border on the classification of prejudice. The negative side of 4 often produces dominant and bossy individuals who use disciplinarian to an excess. These tendencies must be avoided. Finally, like nearly all with 4 Expression, you must keep your eye on the big picture and not get overly wrapped up in detail and routine.

    Your Soul Urge number is: 4

    A Soul Urge number of 4 means:
    With the Soul Urge or Motivation number of 4 you are likely to strive for a stable life. You tend to follow a rather orderly pattern and systematic approach in your endeavors. You have an inner desire to serve others in a methodical and diligent manner. You want to be in solid, conventional, and well-regulated activities, and you are somewhat disturbed by innovation and erratic or sudden changes. Excellent at organizing, systematizing, and managing, you have a way of establishing order and maintaining it. You are responsible, reliable and in the final analysis, practical. Highly analytical, you can see your way through all sorts of situations and generally have a clear understanding of the issues. You are a very honest, sincere, and conscientious individual.

    The negative side of the 4 is rigid, stubborn and somewhat narrow-minded. There is a tendency to hide feelings, or to really not be aware of real feelings. Avoid being too rigid and stubborn in your thinking, and try to always see the big picture rather than becoming to involved with the detail. Don't be afraid to take a chance once in awhile.

    Your Inner Dream number is: 9

    An Inner Dream number of 9 means:
    You dream of being creative, intellectual, and universal; the selfless humanitarian. You understand the needy and want to help them. You would love to be a person people count on for support and advice.

    I ran this for my 9 year old daughter and wow, it fit exactly.

    • David (OnlyNow),
      it looks like that book or system of numerology works for you in your relationship to yourself, other people, and to life. As such, keep on using it for as long as it works for you.
      From your response it became more apparent that what i supplied was not a universal way, but one system or way of perceiving amongst other systems within Numerology that is practical for me. I do not relate to the letters system, but more to the unique presentation of numerology from the book i mentioned. It uses numerology, but is not quite numerology in its delivery. That is my interpretation or explanation. I found it had an uncanny explanation and accuracy of all the people i have tried the system on. It also explained to me, a lot of things that i knew about myself, but could not understand. Just because it works for me it does not mean it is right for you, or anyone else. Each one of us is unique in relationship to life and all that is in existence. That is merely my view, and not everyone is going to relate or share my view. Thus, from all i have mentioned, it may have been best to have left out any interpretations of my own relationship to life and to have left the interpretation up to each individual. I am not regretting anything, as these instances help me becoming clearer about things, and to understand more about myself and others.

      Paul

      • Dear Paul,

        Initially I also found some accuracy of the other systems, specifically the one you are using. I wasn't convinced with its accuracy, as much as I wasn't convinced when I read my daily horoscope, or the general description of my astrology sun sign. So I studied it deeper, I applied it to people, institutions, and kept studying it side by side. At one point, I even began trading in the stock market using numerology; that was about 12 years ago.

        In the same way, I wanted to know more about the regular western astrology that we use commonly. I found it also stemmed back from the same civilizations that came out of Summerians, and that it's science was considerably deeper. For example, there is a moon sign correlating specifically with the year/month/day and it changes ever 1-2 days. There is an ascendant which changes ever 4 minutes which has to do with the first impression you make! There are 12 houses, various planets, and their various relationships. At one point back then, I don't remember exactly how I came with thsi number, but it seemed like there was at least 4.2million combination of Astrology horoscopes to be had! And it went much deeper than that as for example your birth horoscope with correlate with your current time and locational (longitude / latitude). Then it got more complex as there are apparently more of the dwarf planets and starts that are being discovered and astrology is continuing to get refined through science.

        The Indian system is very similar to the Chaldean system that I've used, except they have gone much deeper into how it relates with our body, nervous system, energy bodies, hence infused with their ancient yogic wisdom.

        I also sometimes look at the Chinese astrology; it also appears to be similar in the western system... for example the Chinese Monkey is like Leo in the western system. There are variations... and there MUST be some TRUTH to each of these systems, though there also must be variance in their accuracy... and that can only be discovered by testing/experimenting/applying it.

        There are some basic correlations, as the cycles of the moon affect the tides of oceans on the earth, as well the female menstruation cycles.

        I'm personally not a firm believer in any of these systems, though I have noticed a lot of evidence over time... and even so, I pretend to not know anything about them... mostly I prefer to just enjoy life spontaneously... yet... when it's time to sign some important contract, I do check to make sure that Mercury is not in Retrograde, or when I'm starting a new business, I will check it's name and start date... just in case :-)

        Kindly,
        Ramiel
      • Paul

        No apologies needed, we all have our paths, and I find that I often see things in things, others seem blind too.

        Sometimes I guess we never fully understand what we see. For instance, my first wife, was born on my LDS Baptismal date, her parents racial background were the same as mine, European mix and one mostly native American Indian. Her grand parents had exactly the same initials as mine, and one also lived up in the mountains, in a home similar to what mine had. So many similarities, so many signs it seems, even though I was not looking for any. And she was born like two days different then my youngest brother, and she was everything I wanted in a wife.

        But it never stayed good, in a year she left, she was a emotional nympho, wanting sex 24/7, and wanted to be involved with more then one man, so left, knowing it was not fair to me and knowing i would not handle it.. I did not marry her because of all of the similarities and signs, i just thought it was neat that they were there, but it seem a like quality trick of fact, that it happened the way it did.

        So it is better to rely on what we feel and perceive through the spirit. My present wife, when we first touched, we both passed energy and memories to each other, knowing that we had planned to help each other and marry if we needed help and ran into each other here on Earth.

        So we can have many paths, because things and people change.
