Can anyone feel any energy from symbols? And if so, could it be possible that the only reason you feel 'power' from these symbols is because man has empowered the symbol with such powerful meaning, or do 'powerful' symbols have such 'power' because of its geometrical shape, for we know there are natural symbols in nature: the golden rectangle. And we all know how 'powerful' plants are with their healing energy. Hope you guys understand what I mean. Thanks.

Re: Energy from symbols?
Mon, November 17, 2008 - 7:03 AMI think it's a little of both, because on one hand whatever power we personally give to a preexisting symbol makes it that much more powerful to us. But you can also come across symbols that resonate of their own accord that you are magnetically attracted to. I think language and sound symbols such as the aum for instance hold power as they are thought made manifest by sound and therefore a reality in their own right, thus giving the symbols the power of the thought it embodies

Re: Energy from symbols?
Mon, November 17, 2008 - 1:32 PMHi J. what an interesting question!
I can remember the first time I noticed symbols and was very surprised that I felt so excited by them! One in particular has been with me for years after it floated into my mind during a quiet few moments and I felt moved to have it made from silver and amethyst to wear. I feel like it almost haunts me from another very much earlier age when it's significance was completely what I lived by, and that it's reappearance in my life was to remind me of this through the feeling I get from it.
Maybe part of the power of symbols is also how they can be etched on the memory, perhaps more strongly than words or scenes because they stand out regardless of language or scenery. They can be so simple and yet carry enough meaning to fill a book.
Everything is vibrating with energy ( to me ), so a shape will be vibrating too without me or someone else giving it a message to carry. If it does carry a message I think it wears the energy of that message also, along with the energy of the original creator of the message.
If we substitute the word 'power' with 'ableness' for a minute, it's easy to see that symbols have an ableness about them, lol. An ability to communicate, motivate, inspire, deflate, encourage etc etc. Very 'powerful' things indeed! I think so anyway. :)

Re: Energy from symbols?
Sun, November 23, 2008 - 10:28 PMTake a reiki class! or take a couple. they give you symbols that are used by practitioners around the world for healing intention. Thus the symbols are connected with energy due to so many people intending that connection over so long a time. -

Re: Energy from symbols?
Mon, November 24, 2008 - 6:15 AMI have to agree with what a few folks have all ready mentioned that often symbols are a bit of both. They act as a catalyst or a focus on energy that manifests from us. There are symbols that I have been drawn to due to belief and cultural background , but I think that the symbol and I have a 50/50 relationship in manifesting positive energy.
There are certain symbols that if I try to wear them as a necklace or a ring almost stifle me or leave me feeling as if I can not breathe , they resonate a very uncomfortable energy for me. As counter point there are others that have a sense of familiarity , and fill me with good energy and a sense of security and warmth. The sensation from symbols , if I attempt to wear them as a necklace or a ring is instant and very definite.
I find it interesting that there is a certain very well know symbol, that many of my friends who share similar beliefs and ideologies with me wear , that I can not even pick up without feeling very uncomfortable. I don't see it as negative on others , but the energy that resonates from it when I attempt to touch it or wear it is quite instant and intense . I accept this and have no desire to change this , however might anyone have insight to why a symbol that acts as such a positive symbol for others , would bring forth such and instantly negative reaction for me ? -

Re: Energy from symbols?
Mon, November 24, 2008 - 5:09 PMwithout knowing exactly what it is...for example:
I've met many people that are totally uncomfortable with the crucifix (also calling God "God", etc.) Ultimately it seems that it stems from them. I mean, assuming you believe in our source, God will communicate with you in ways that you will understand. in ways that you can hear :) So for many out there a certain symbol might really resonate with them. Maybe for you it doesn't? But I would be inclined to think that somewhere along the way you might have picked up something that made you uncomfortable.
Might've been too vague, am not feeling very articulate atm.

Re: Energy from symbols?
Mon, November 24, 2008 - 10:32 PMHi Bjarn, what comes to mind is, for example, if the symbol is a crucifix and you were at some stage crucified ( presuming you feel a sense of having lived in human form more than this once ) then that'd give you some yuk vibes whenever you came into contact with one of those things wouldn't it? :) Or if you had been involved in the inquisition. It'd be a bit like the affect of a swastika on a Jewish person I would imagine. Symbols associated with intense emotion from another time, I feel, are engraved on ones souls memory. -

Re: Energy from symbols?
Mon, November 17, 2008 - 9:18 PMYes, one day while riding home on the bus, I felt a strange headache. The headache was very directional and seemed to get worse as the bus approached a house. When the bus paused in front of that house, I noticed that the owners put on the front door to the home a Chinese symbol to ward off traffic accidents. The symbol was essentially a red octagon with a convex mirror placed in the center of it. I asked a Chinese friend of mine about the symbol. He said that the Chinese use it in front of a house that is situated usually at the end of a road way or a home situated at the end of a dead-end street. The symbol is suppose to ward of wary drunken drivers that may come ploughing into a home. I think it works. That headache woke me up and definitely alerted me to something that was there. -

Re: Energy from symbols?
Fri, November 21, 2008 - 3:26 AMIt is the focus on the symbol and what it means....almost a meditation, as opposed to a spoken word. Each one having a specific purpose. The symbol itself is only a representation of a focus on a belief. "Belief" is a big word....and can accomplish much....and correct motivation.

Re: Energy from symbols?
Fri, November 28, 2008 - 11:23 AMSymbols are very powerful in many ways. They represent things, meaning energy. Our entire English language system and our numeral system are made up of symbols that carry meaning. Meaning that we have culturally assigned to them and meaning from the way they look and the sound vibrations we associate with speaking them out loud.
The Reiki system uses symbols to represent energetic frequencies. to tune in to those symbols is to connect with the energy they represent. I imagine it is the same with many things. Trust what you know, feel, see, etc...

Re: Energy from symbols?
Mon, January 5, 2009 - 10:28 AMSacred Geometry arises as already stated.... sound creates form..... thats why we should teke care in what we say. Native americans know this budha and hindu and aborigini peoples. Thought is also a power but it is increased in strength when you add sound thats why Mantra's are power they ARE words of power.
Symbols are recognised by your inner being, hence fairie stories talk in pictures the pictures are symbolic - infact many of our folk tales and stories represent one 'psyche' - tyhe king and queen are divine feminine and masculine, bal;anced within the individual when they have completed tasks l;ike sorting what is of value or not etc. Gaining skills or facing fears etc Symbols are ancient and encoded in our dna and cultures often share these across many millenia.
