So...my mom lives in Sedona, AZ. I'm here visiting her. I've never been here before. I am astounded at all the mountains and land not taken up by people.

One of my questions is that I feel an extreme amount of anxiety here. It is freaking me out. I researched Sedona and I know about these vortexes, but people say it's all positive, life-changing stuff. I feel so anxious that I just want to leave and go home.

does anyone have any suggestions or anything? thanks

Some people find Bell rock to be too much for them to handle. For me it makes me want to crawl out of my skin. Others have said it has the wrong energy for them. So it is not unusual to feel irritating energy from these vortexes.
It sounds like you are feeling the same as I do when near certain vortexes.

A very interesting location. The energy there is "heavy" in sensation to me, much like Shasta is, but in a different way. I think one important thing to remember is to trust your intuition, rather than "what people say" about a location. There are a lot of different lines running through Sedona, not all associated with the rocks.

Like any energy nexus, it also attracts people with all levels of development. And certain types of dis-ease do warp the energy for dark or malicious uses. If you are there and find yourself suddenly wanting to do layouts of crystals you've never worked with before, I'd advise being extremely cautious about it, and to really center yourself before acting on the impulse.

Just curious why you advise against the "layout of crystals"?

I used to live in Sedona, from '88-'90. Back then you would be considered a long timer if you could stand to live in Sedona for even 6 months. The energy can be extreme for those not used to dealing with such strong energies. and yes, many strange occurences happen out there. In my E-book "Beware Of Rich Friends" I cronicle many of the odd experiences I had while I lived out there. Including a couple of them at Bell Rock. Once while we were driving by Bell Rock, we "lost" 28 minutes. Our 5 minute drive ( 3 miles) at maximum speed, (and I was driving and we never stopped) took 33 minutes. None of us had any experience of anything "weird" happening during that time. (Myself or three passengers). But the clock had changed from 10:11 to 10:44.

I've been there twice and the first time it was 115 F and I was irritable, anxious and overwhelmed even though I thought it was beautiful. The next time we went (12 yrs later) I felt the same although the weather was much cooler. I noticed the same feeling not matter where I went in the Sedona area. I just felt like it was too yang for me (dry, hot, red and lots of intense energy). That night it rained/snowed and when we went back into town, in the morning, it felt so balanced and I really enjoyed myself. The energy felt so balanced probably due to less people (they hid from the rain) and the calming influence of the yin weather. The colors were deeper but not as intense and the moisture softened everything.

I noticed a similar feeling in Grass Valley CA with the red soil, dry intense heat and ground full of quartz and gold. But the forest mitigates the yang energy more in that area. Interestingly people often move to both areas to move through their stuff and open up to spiritual connections. If you are already sensitive and have challenges with energy boundaries those areas can feel more overwhelming - especially with so many energy workers stirring up and raising the frequencies even more.

    Hi Breezy,
I spend a lot of time in Sedona on my days off(I live in Phoenix) and have been going there for the past six years. And when I first stopped in Sedona on my way west form NY I felt the same way. It took me a few days to adjust to the energies. I spent time walking around Coffee Pot Rock and along Oak Creek and it helped me a lot.
Another good place to try is Boynton Canyon the energies there seem to balance the male/female in a body. It is a long easy hike and well worth the hour and a half it takes to walk all the way to the end.

Also there are lots of energy works and healers there that can help you if you choose to work with these energies.
If you want I can give you the name and number of one I know.

    Love and Light ,

Hi Breezy, I am new to the group but this post made me really think so I wanted to thank you !
I have been to Sedona once (I live in the phoenix area) without realizing that they had these “vortex” thingies but when I found out I was interested and went to Bell Rock. I found the rocks to be very beautiful and awesome but while in Sedona I now realize that there were many “people blocks” I had up during my time there. I often put up these mental “blocks” without realizing it at times…I think it is a by-product of my abusive childhood…but I’m not sure. I’m still learning about myself :)
Now that I recall back to the Sedona trip, these were the types of people blocks I had to put up:
-Wealthy judgmental people who feel entitled/special because of the land
-Cons/sales people trying to make a buck off of the land
-Cynics who didn’t believe in anything dealing with “energies”
-Criminals (I think there is some sort of criminal activity going on around Bell Rock-I felt unsafe and vulnerable at dusk)
Once my blocks were up I could really enjoy the beautiful surroundings LOL! However the criminal vibe did make me cut my visit short, I guess I don’t really block that one (if I’m wrong, big deal, but if I’m right I don’t want to find out!) I became very nervous and left after picking it up…
I agree that spots along Oak Creek were very pleasant and I don’t recall any “blocks” having to be in place…of course there were many less people there at that time too.
Are there any animals you can spend time with? They seem to be able to cope with bad vibes much better than we humans ;) Horses especially. They like helping humans :)

Bell Rock is (Allegedly) a Yang/ male energy vortex. Cathedral Rock is Yin/ feminine. Sound to me like that was what you were feeling, Suzi. In my book (see link above) I describe one time when Bell Rock was "smoking" with energy eminations. Even just small pieces of the rock that I held over my head. And I am an empath. I don't normally SEE energy.
