Seven is a magic number. It seems, the entire world rests on the number Seven.

Upon winning a victory, achieving success and wanting to express their sense of full happiness people have been saying that they are on the Seventh heaven !

It`s not accidental that the most ancient Biblical Lamp - Menorah - is a seven candle piece. This deeply religious symbol of the Biblical people reminds the history of the World`s creation by the Lord:for some reason, almost all the most important events in the Bible are connected with the number Seven!

As imagined by Islam ,the World consists of 7 heavens. Allah himself lives on the 7th heaven . Interesting , and Judaism also aknowledges the existence of 7 heavens..

And in the New Testament John speaks of the book with Seven seals (John 5:1) .
The great philosopher and poet Goethe mentions this book several times in his immortal poem "Faust".

The antroppologist Rudolf Steiner wrote that , just like LIGHT consists of SEVEN colours (Seven Wonders of the World),
the musical scale also consists of 7 tones (notes).

Proverbs ,all about *7* :

Its better going yourself than sending seven .

Seven nannies have a baby without an eye.

Seven misdeeds ,still one punishment .

One with the plough ,but seven with spoons.

Seven wont wait for one.

To walk seven miles to drink some kissel .

    ..and now seriously :

There are 7 deadly sins of a man :

    1.Envy(Jealousy)
    2.Wrath(Revenge,Rage)
    3.Avarice(Greed,Avidity)
    4.Lust(Voluptuousness,Licentiousness,Debauchery)
    5.Haughtiness(Arrogance,Pride)
    6.Gluttony
    7.Sloth(Idleness,Apathy,Despondency)

    Else sayings and proverbs:

Seven miles is not a distance for a mad dog.

To run with seven mile steps .

I think the 7 deadly sins are just a load of religious nonsense. It is in fact more healthy to allow oneself to feel one's feelings so they may pass through without being acted upon, rather than try to deny them (as sins) so they build and become unmanageable. What a dishonour to one's innermost self. And what a great way to attempt to numb and thereby control the masses while proving these feelings are sins by having people unable to manage their feelings and thereby act inappropriately upon them.

Anyway, back to the topic! I agree 7 is a magic number...but then so are they all in one way or another. :)

it's interesting that you thought of all these 7's.

I have never felt that about 7 nor read about it.

I do not think it is so accidental , that we frequently encounter this number in Bible :
        7 mysteries,
7 gifts of the Saint Spirit,
        7 universal temples,
        7 stars in the crown,
        7 sages in the world,
7 candles in the altar lamp,
and 7 -in the altar -piece one,
        7 sins,
        7 circles of hell ,
and 7 levels of soul .......

I've certainly been intrigued by the number seven at of late especially because on my 21st birthday in 2007, I turned 21. Which to me held synchronistic potential because my birthday was on 07/30/07. 7 x 3 is 21. I turned 21 on this alignment of sevens, as well as gained an experiential enlightened perspective beginning in 07. Any numerologist out there that would find the alignment of these sevens interesting or significant to numerological study, please share your thoughts.

The Quest of the Seven Keys is the title of my novel -- they are magic keys and there is a discussion of the number seven in the forth chapter, The Woodling Council. (See my Blog for more) Although, why seven? In our number system 9 seems like a finality -- My numerologist, Louise Snyfield, who put the B in Cecil B DeMills name, may have said that 7 is the harvest number. Any Numerologists out there who can clarify that?
