ive found the energy here to be that of stagnation and dis-ease, i equate it to the swamp, everything here seems to just OOOOOZE, nothing here moves quickly, like the whole place is in quicksand, and the predatorsare CONSTANTLY trying to nibble at you, there is so rest here, ( and by predators i mean, people, bugs, energy beings, spirits, critters etc.) .
SO, any insights?

I have never been to Orlando (but I plan on it as I am an avvid surfer, and I hear FL has amazing surf...), but I have travelled quite abit.
Every city seems to have a different vibe.
I am from the West Coast, living in Vancouver, Canada.

Vancouver is a very Bohemian city. Very Liberal, very artsy-fartsy, very freedom-oriented. (Ever see RENT? Yeah, basically the whole city lives by the ideals of the characters in that film/stage production) As a result, the general emotion radiating from here is one of excitement and, well...energy! I love working downtown simply because of the pulse of the city!
Having this artistic center be surrounded by Nature....the Rocky Mountains, the only Temparate Rainforest in the World, as well as the Pacific Ocean offers an INCREDIBLE blend of man and nature! I have travelled all over North America and I can't think of ANY better place for an Empath to be! This doesnt mean that Vancouver is PERFECT, I mean there is certainly a depressing section...but generally speaking, there is an energy, a vibe, a pulse, a LIFE here that is just exhilerating and refreshing!

I have also spent many days in LA and San Fransisco (Surfing), and those two cities are as different as night-and-day. SanFran has a very similar, fun, playful feel as Vancouver does (though not as intense), while LA seems to have this Haughty, snobby feeling with a hint of that predatory feeling you are describing from Orlando.

I also spent 2 years in Pittsburgh. Now there is something different entirely.
Pitt is a city that basically has 3 sectors, the college sector, the Italian sector, and the Ghetto. Ghetto is pretty self-explainatory, as well as is the college area, but the Italian sector (I call em sectors, by the way, thats not the official term) is straight outta the old Gangster/Mafia flicks...quite interesting, actually.

Each area within Pitt has a certain atmosphere, a certain energy. The Ghetto reeks of emotional filth, predation, and OOZES like you describe Orlando does. But there is an underlying tone of sorrow, frustration, regret and hopelessness.
The Italian sector is prettymuch a neutral feeling, but a more keen empath would feel a sense of caution. Of strict obedience. Of everything being "on Edge".
The College sector...well...go to any college town and its all the same...a mix of parties and studies. Seriousness mixed with rambunxiousness.

The one thing they all share in common is a feeling of respect and honor. There are rules that are set, that have been around since the city began. Etiquette and Protocol. Follow the rules, and you'll be fine. But those rules are on a hair-trigger, and lemme tell ya...you can REALLY feel how sensative that trigger is...

The feelings of each city, such as Pittsburgh, Vancouver and Orlando, are the heart and soul of the city, and come from the people in it. It's what makes the city become, in essence, a living thing. Vancouver is young, and fresh, and ready to experience life! Pittsburgh is old, and established and set in its ways. Orlando, from what you describe is uneasy, tense and slothful.
You will find that the emotional vibe will change with the seasons. Florida in the summer will become increasingly hot, sticky, humid, and more swamp-like...the people there will feel it, not like it, and enhance that emotion. Vancouver, on the other hand has a Wet and Dry season (welcome to the rainforest) and the Emotion differs accordingly. Summer/Dry season is the best! It's like living in one giant summer-surf-movie. The wet season, on the otherhand, is grey 75% of the time...we get 4--7 months of overcast, and the city can become quite gloomy at times.

My mind now goes blank...which usually means Ive said what needs to be said :p
SO...I hope that I was helpful in some way...if you have any questions, feel free to ask...

i grew up in FL and I think I know what you may mean. it's funny the timing of your post b/c I was just out on a walk and looking at the palm trees in the sun (i'm in CA) made me think of FL and how it really felt to live there. There is an odd vibe running through the air and I didn't quite understand it until I moved 3000 miles away. There is an odd blend of old time redneck with north eastern tourist. It's a very strange mix. The tourist vibe makes you feel like you are on vacation and should relax, but the old time redneck vibe is a very eerie one. Stepping into the smaller towns and the energy is even stronger and you will know what I mean. There's something very old running through that state and I think it is carrying a lot of bad karma. The redneck vibe is a mix of true ignorance (true lack of education, not the "your so stupid" kind of insult), and intolerance for outside thinkers. Of course the vacation vibe is fun, and you can usually feel it in the beach communities. It's nice and laid back, a teeny tiny bit hippy. I took refuge in neptune beach after high school. But venture inland and you meet a few cool people, but a lot of religious oppression is mixing with the old time rednecks and don't forget that FL was part of the slave system too so you have racial tension that goes back to the early days of our country. It's a very odd, very interesting place. You didn't say if you were raised there or just visiting. If you're just visiting, just observe everything as a student or a sociologist would. It's a fascinating place. If you were raised there and you are an empath... then as an empath who grew up there and moved away, I can tell you then I also thought it was a bad place for my personal vibration. Also-- if you want to stay in FL, I would suggest moving to a coastal city. Orlando is too far from the coast to get much sea breeze. That sea breeze does a lot to help clear the air of any icky vibes. Hope that helps.

ive been in O-town off and on since the late 80s, i keep moving away , and keep getting dragged back. FIghting and clawing, and hating it all the way. it sucks the life out of you, and its not like any other place in Florida, Jax wasnt that bad, Daytona was great, the keys were too laid back but nice just the same, in fact EVERY OTHER PLACE in this state aint that bad, but ORLANDO is HELL!

Bummer to keep getting pulled back to a place you don't like, Wanderingwolf.
I'm originally from the west central coast (read: fog city) and I've noticed that areas heavy in fog create a sleepy, grounding, lethargic energy in me (I'm already more of a calm yin person) . I also felt a similar energy in areas of Texas that were surrounded by swamps. Whereas, mountainous dry areas create more of a kinetic energy (more yang - outward energy).

I know what you mean, Simple song, about the energy adjustments between ignorance and tourism. Whenever we look for a new place for our traveling jobs we usually sidestep heavy fog, swamps, heat and look for university towns and tourism - their energy, excitement and dollars tend to raise the energy of the place (as long as they are not there 24/7) mixed with open minded people.

Strange to keep getting pulled back to something you dislike so much, Wanderingwolf, any possibility that there is something for you to clear that can only happen there?

I have known so many people in FL who get "dragged back". I grew up in Jax and it isn't as bad as Orlando but it still is a special kind of suck. I knew sooooo many people who moved away only to come back 6 months to 1 year later. Almost no one ever stayed away. The fact that I stayed away for 6 years is shocking to people I grew up with. It's all about will power. I don't know your circumstances, but I can just say that you have to remember how much you hated it and stop going back!
